Linking to Library Resources in Blackboard

This faculty-oriented guide provides directions on how to link to library online resources in your Blackboard course. It includes detailed directions on how to create persistent links to content in the library's article databases.

Persistent Linking Instructions for Lexis/Nexis

Note: Do not copy and paste the URL that appears in your browser window. 

  1. Open Lexis Nexis Academic from the Library Databases page.
  2. Search for an article. 
  3. Click on an article in the results list. 
  4. On the far right, you will see the Icon Bar in the top right corner of your document. Click the "Copy Document Link" icon (looks like a clipboard).
  5. In the pop-up box entitled "Copy the URL of this link", right-click on the title and copy the URL. 
  6. Paste the Lexis/Nexis link into a text editor and then add the remote access prefix (http://blume.stmarytx.edu:2048/login?url=) before the Lexis/Nexis URL.
  7. Paste the full URL  (prefix plus database URL) in your Blackboard course, email message, online syllabus, etc.
