Using eBooks at the Blume Library

This guide provides step-by-step tips to find and use eBooks, particularly EBSCO eBooks. Includes tips on how to download an eBook to your computer and transfer to an eReader. Also includes links to free eBooks online.

Download EBSCO eBooks to a Mobile Device

You can download EBSCO eBooks on your mobile device or eReader.   

This section outlines the steps you will follow to download books to your mobile device.

You will need:

  • A Bluefire Reader App (works with Apple, Android or Kindle Fire devices)
  • An Adobe ID
  • Safari Web Browser for Apple devices

Steps

  1. Install the Bluefire Reader from your device's app store if you don't have it installed already
  2. Create an Adobe ID OR enter your existing Adobe ID
  3. Authorize the Bluefire App with your Adobe ID
    • Open the app
    • Enter your Adobe ID and password in the fields provided
    • Authorize
  4. To Download an eBook
    • Use your browser to search St. Mary's eBook collection, either in Discover or in EBSCO eBooks.  Note: make sure you enable pop-ups in your browser.
    • Tap the Download link for the eBook.
    • Log into your MyEBSCOhost folder.  Note: Create an MyEBSCOhost account if you don't already have one.
    • Select Download with longest duration.
    • Pick a format if there is more than one option (PDF or EPUB).
    • Once the eBook is downloaded, Open in the Bluefire Reader.
