PO 2310 - Political Research Methodology

PO 2310 - Political Research Methodology - Introduction to the methods of political research. The focus is on designing research. Students will assess the state of scholarly literature, identify interesting questions, formulate strategies for collecting qualitative and quantitative data for answering those questions. They shall learn how to, and shall conduct a literature review on some substantive question. Successful completion of this course fulfills the information literacy proficiency requirements of the core curriculum. 

In the Department of Political Science at St. Mary’s University, students develop skills that increase their understanding of governance and politics, and the theoretical underpinnings of democracy, a republic and justice. Analytical and critical skills are emphasized in this major through research methods, statistical analysis, leadership, service and enhanced oral and written communication assignments.
