- Asian/Pacific American Award for LiteratureGiven to "honor and recognize individual work about Asian/Pacific Americans and their heritage, based on literary and artistic merit." Awards winners announced at ALA Midwinter in January.
- Batchelder Award"Given to the most outstanding children’s book originally published in a language other than English in a country other than the United States, and subsequently translated into English for publication in the United States." The book and media awards are announced each year at ALA’s Midwinter Meeting in January.
- Caldecott Medal"Awarded annually to the artist of the most distinguished American picture book for children." Honor Books are the runners-up for the annual award. The book and media awards are announced each year at ALA’s Midwinter Meeting in January.
- Carnegie and Kate Greenaway Children's Book Awards (CILIP)UK awards. "the Carnegie Medal is awarded by children’s librarians for an outstanding book written in English for children and young people." - National Book Awards"The National Book Award is an American literary prize administered by the National Book Foundation." The four award categories include: Fiction, Nonfiction, Poetry, and Young People's Literature. Winners are announced in November.

- Printz AwardAwarded annually "for a book that exemplifies literary excellence in young adult literature." The book and media awards are announced each year at ALA’s Midwinter Meeting in January.
- Pura Belpré Award"Awarded annually to a Latino/Latina writer and illustrator whose work best portrays, affirms, and celebrates the Latino cultural experience in an outstanding work of literature for children and youth."
- Sibert Informational Book Medal"Awarded annually to the author and illustrator of the most distinguished informational book published in the United States in English." The book and media awards are announced each year at ALA’s Midwinter Meeting in January.
- Stonewall Book Awards"The Stonewall Book Awards are presented to English language books that have exceptional merit relating to the gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender experience." The book and media awards are announced each year at ALA’s Midwinter Meeting in January.
- Texas Bluebonnet AwardTexas students choose their favorite books from the Texas Bluebonnet list. The book receiving the most votes is declared the winner of the award. The award winner is announced at the Texas Library Association (TLA) Annual Conference in the spring.
