Library Resources for The Journal & Scholar : Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

A general guide for law students in The Journal and The Scholar about different resources the libraries have to aid them in their legal writing and research.

What is an Interlibrary Loan?

Interlibrary loan (ILL) is the process by which a library requests material from, or supplies material to another library.

No Journal or Scholar student should need to buy books!

If the Law Library and the Blume Library don't have the book or resource you need, you can request that material through ILL, and we will borrow the item for your use. Before requesting an item through ILL, please check the library catalog to see if you already have access to the resource.

ILLs will NOT be done for textbooks or items SKELL or the Blume library already owns.

REQUESTING ILL

To request an ILL, email Prof. Fowler at sfowler@stmarytx.edu with as much information about the resource as possible:

JOURNAL ARTICLES

  • Journal Title
  • Article Title
  • Author(s)
  • Volume
  • Page Number(s)
  • Publication Date

BOOKS

  • Book Title
  • Author(s)
  • Publication Date
  • Edition

When requesting books through ILL for cite checks, please include the page numbers used in the citation(s) as PDF scans are easier and faster to obtain. If a particular resource is cited heavily by an author, the entire book may be requested.
