Children's Literature: Finding Books

Finding Books in the Online Catalog

Books in the children's collection can be found by using an author or title search in our catalog.  Searching by subject is best achieved by selecting the advanced  keyword search option and using the phrase "juvenile literature" in the subject search box to limit to material in our children's collection.  Examples of searches are:

  • alphabet juvenile literature (which would retrieve alphabet books)
  • science juvenile literature (which would retrieve science material written for young people)
  • history juvenile literature (which would retrieve history material written for young people)

Wordless/Picture Books

The Blume Library has a wealth of picture books for children as well as many books explaining about how to use picture books in the curriculum.  You can find a very good list by searching the term picture books as subject in our catalog.
