Spanish Archives of Laredo
- Spanish Archives of Laredo
"The Spanish Archives of Laredo, informally called the Laredo Archives, cover a period from 1749 to 1872 and consist of 3,452 handwritten official documents totaling 13,343 pages. These documents contain records of boundary surveys; land allotments; Indian raids; church, school, and social development; royal decrees and edicts; local laws and ordinances; civil and criminal litigation; census, tax, and trade statistics; and wills and estate settlements." DiamondbackCall Number: onlineThanks to grant funding, the Diamondback, St. Mary's University yearbook, has been digitized and is available through the Portal to Texas History. Years available are 1932-1989, with some years missing. The Diamondback was not published regularly between 1944-1954 and 1965-1968.
Pecan Grove Review"The Pecan Grove Review gives students the opportunity to understand and obtain realistic publishing experience. In 1993, Sister Ann Semel, then-chair of the English and Communication Studies Department, asked faculty member Diane Gonzales Bertrand – now visiting lecturer and writer-in-residence at St. Mary’s – to start a literary magazine. The Pecan Grove Review’s first staff members were students from Bertrand’s 'Intro to the Creative Process' class, and she became its first faculty adviser. The Department of English Literature and Language resides within the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at St. Mary’s." Volumes 1 (1996)-20 (2021) are available in the Digital Commons at St. Mary's University and on the university's Omeka server. Volume 1 (1996)-Volume 20 (2021) are available in the Blume Library print Periodicals Collection.
