TH 6352 Course Description

TH 6352 - Christian Social EthicsThis course deals with the question of how Christian faith relates to the economic, social and political dimensions of human life. It addresses fundamental issues, examples of which could be: the church’s relationship to the world and role in the public sphere, the relationship between church and state, and Catholic social theory, economic justice, and peacemaking in a violent world. The course surveys the methods and content of the discipline of Christian social ethics, and makes connections to social ministry. The development of the modern tradition of Catholic social teaching receives special emphasis.
