Music Research

Guide to resources for music research, both in the Blume Library and online

Find Videos

You will want to use a keyword search, in Discover, to find videos. Some possibilities include the uniform title, the instrument, the type of work (concerto, opera, quartet, symphony, etc.), the composer, any numbers associated with the composer (like the Mozart's catalog numbers like k 626), and more. You will find videos that are in our DVD collection but also videos in our streaming video databases (see list below).

Please note: There are some streaming video databases that are not indexed by Discover. Any databases with an orange triangle is not in Discover.

DVDS are kept behind the Circulation Desk. Please ask for them by call number

You can search Discover or the Library Catalog for videos The example, below, shows a search in Discover.

Locate Videos in Discover

Steps to Locate Videos

  1. Search by keyword. You can put items in quotes to search by phrase (e.g. "mixed voices"), use Boolean operators (e.g. (symphony OR concerto), by the composer's name, piece of music, etc.
  2. Once you have searched, limit by Source Type to Videos.

Discover search for the keywords "mozart and opera" with a Source Type limit to Videos.
