Public Domain or Creative Commons License Image Collections

Be sure to check the license information for specific images. Many of the images at the sites below are public domain or use Creative Commons licenses, but not all do.

The Commons on Flickr
Database of photographs from archives, museums, and other public institutions from around the world. Contributors include the Library of Congress, the New York Public Library, the Smithsonian, George Eastman House, National Archives UK, etc.
Creative Commons Search
Use the CC search portal "to find images that you can use and remix across several open archives."
Freepik
Freepik provides free graphic resources and includes Flaticon, which has more than 4 million vector icons, and Slidesgo, which has free PowerPoint and Google Slides templates.
Google Images
Search for images. Some images, but not all, are in the public domain.
Internet Archive - Images
Over a million images uploaded by Archive uses. Includes photographs, artwork, astronomical images, and maps. Some images, but not all, are in the public domain.
Material icons - Google Fonts
Located at the Google Fonts site, Material Icons are free to use and "are available in five styles and a range of downloadable sizes and densities. The icons are based on the core Material Design principles and metrics."
The Noun Project
A diverse and extensive collection of icons and photos that are available to use.
Pexels
"Pexels provides high quality and completely free stock photos licensed under the Pexels license. All photos are nicely tagged, searchable and also easy to discover through our discover pages." Pexels encourages users to share their own photos.
Pixabay
Pixabay allows users to copy, modify, distribute, and use the images, even for commercial purposes, all without asking for permission or giving credits to the artist. However, depicted content may still be protected by trademarks, publicity or privacy rights.
UnDraw
Provides illustrations that can be used without cost or attribution.
Unsplash
More than 2 million freely usable high-resolution images from a generous community of photographers.
Wikimedia Commons
"Wikimedia Commons is a media file repository making available public domain and freely licensed educational media content (images, sound and video clips) to everyone."
