Blume Library: Music CDs

How to Find Music CDs in Discover

1. Where are the music CDs in the library?

Music CDs are shelved behind the Circulation Counter on the 2nd Floor. Please ask staff for the music CDs you want. 

2. How do I find out if the Blume Library has music CD of a genre or type of music?

  • Search Discover for a word or phrase. Ex: jazz.
  • Limit your search to under Source Types to "Audio". 
  • Limit to "Available in the Library Collection" if this option is not already chosen.

3. How do I find out if the Blume Library has a particular music CD?

  • Search Discover for performer name or album title.
    • Type in the band name or composer name and choose "AU Author" from the drop-down box next to your search. 
    • Type in the name of the album and choose "TI Title" from the drop-down box next to your search.
  • Limit your search to under Source Types to "Audio". 
  • Limit to "Available in the Library Collection" if this option is not already chosen.

In addition, there are several notebooks at the Circulation Counter that contain information about most of the popular music CDs in the library. These are arranged by genre (rock, country, blues, etc.) and within the genre by the name of the group or by the individual performer's last name. 

4. Can I browse a list of CDs the Blume Library has recently purchased?

 The Library Catalog includes a list of new music cds.

5. Can I search for a particular song?

  • Search Discover for the name of the song you want to find. 
    • You can put a phrase in quotes to make your search more specific, i.e., "Love me do."
  • Limit your search under Source Types to "Audio". 
  • Limit to "Available in the Library Collection" if this option is not already chosen.
