Linking Library Resources in Canvas

This faculty-oriented guide provides directions on how to link to library online resources in your Canvas course. This guide includes detailed directions on how to create persistent links to content in the library's article databases.

Persistent Linking Instructions for the New York Times Historical Newspapers database

Follow these steps to create persistent links to articles in the New York Times database:

  1. Open the New York Times - Historical Newspapers database from the Library Databases page.
  2. Find an article you want to use.
  3. Click on an article title to pull up the complete article record.
  4. Click on Cite icon on the right side.
  5. Copy the URL in the Cite pop-up box. The Library's remote access prefix is included.
  6. Paste the URL in your Canvas course, email message, online syllabus, etc.
